- Rai gmore became the first UK hospital to use ULTRA CONTROL routinely. Anne Allan said “we are already finding it a simpler, safer tool to use, with easy treatment set up. There is a reduced risk of excessive haemoconcentration and the exchange volumes are greater, therefore this may improve treatment out come when using this preferred therapy option, on-line HDF."

- This imposing renal unit was opened in November 2006. It was equipped with two state-of-the-art 132HH water plants and Gambro AK 200 S dialysis machines, 25% of which are the Ultra S version to enable haemodiafiltration to take place on selected patients. Until last year only a 5-year old 12 station temporary unit had been in place.

- A new build renal unit was established at the Countess of Chester Hospital in early 2006, and it is equipped with the highest specification Gambro AK 200 S and Ultra S machines. These enable a whole range of therapies to be applied to patients, including higher convection HD, HF and HDF.

- Exalis is a dialysis data management tool, designed to improve the overall efficiency of a dialysis facility. Through time saving and performance gains it enables automatic collection of treatment data, real time access to information, on-line documentation print outs, data exchange with medical record systems and connection to a patient’s home or satellite unit. We have enabled data export from Exalis to allow offline analysis using a range of tools developed by the University of Aberdeen Computing Department.
